Verify your kingpin diameter before purchasing lube plates. Standard pins measure two-and-seven-eighths inches typically. Incorrect sizing leads to poor fit and potential damage. Measure carefully to ensure secure attachment. Universal fits may not suit all rigs.

Value Material Durability and Strength

Select high-density polyethylene or PP plastic materials. These resist wear from friction during towing. Avoid brittle plastics that crack under pressure. Thicker plates offer better longevity and protection. Invest in quality for long-term savings.

Rating Ease of Installation Process

Look for tool-free snap-on designs for convenience. Complicated installations waste time and effort. Serrated grips ensure secure fitment without bolts. Quick installation encourages regular maintenance checks. User-friendly designs improve overall ownership experience.

Verify Noise Reduction Capabilities

Choose plates proven to reduce squeaking noises. Noise indicates friction and potential wear issues. Effective lubrication ensures smoother towing experiences. Quiet operation enhances camping arrival comfort. Check reviews for verified noise reduction claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size kingpin do most fifth wheels use?

Most fifth wheel trailers use a standard two-and-seven-eighths inch kingpin. Always measure your specific pin to confirm. Some older or specialized rigs may differ. Checking manufacturer specifications ensures correct accessory selection.

Replace lube plates every six to twenty-four months. Frequency depends on towing mileage and conditions. Inspect regularly for signs of wear or cracking. Proactive replacement prevents hitch damage and noise.
